When You Beg God To Change Your Circumstances and He Doesn’t, Remember This

If we could only remember who’s in charge … and trust.  How often we besiege God about something we desperately want! We beg Him to change our circumstances. We implore Him to bring something to fruition.  Sometimes, however, God says no

The Constant to Cling To When Facing Seasons of Change

It can be difficult to move on in the midst of life changes, but God’s a constant we can all count on.  In Iowa we have a saying about the weather: If you don’t like it, just wait a minute, it’ll change.

Believe in God’s Love for You (review of “66 Ways God Loves You”)

I’ve never heard my 18-year-old daughter say, “I love you.” Not with her own voice. She can’t. Her severe speech disability prevents that exchange. It’d be delightful to hear those words from her. However, I never doubt her love for me. Not a day

Why We Need To Get Rid of the Junk (in our hearts as well as our homes)

Letting junk accumulate in our hearts keeps us from living in the freedom Christ has secured.  Rummaging through my clothes pile, I frantically searched for the mate to the shoes I wanted to wear. It had disappeared into the black

The One Thing That Will Get You Through the Fiercest Storm

Sometimes we simply need to know we’re loved.  There he lay. Propped on his side, that little plastic penguin seemed to mock the weight of my sadness.  Less than an hour earlier my usually happy daughter had thrown this favorite little toy in anger

Live in the Miracle of Each Moment

If there’s one thing I learned from my daughter, it’s that little things count big. With moderate-to-severe developmental delays, each small accomplishment she makes becomes incredibly important. With Rachel’s first unassisted step not coming until age 4 and her first word

An Endless Well of Comfort #31DaysofPraise

“Praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort.” 2 Corinthians 1:3 Long before I know I need comfort, God’s there. Long after I think I’m past needing it,

You Belong! #31DaysofPraise

“Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.” Psalm 100:3 Such a sweet truth: to know that we are the Lord’s, we belong!

Thanks for stopping!

Hello, I'm Julie, an imperfect wife and mother of four. Life in this broken world is not always easy. Yet, joy can be found in each day through the grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I find it's easy for our day's BLESSINGS to get lost in its HAPPENINGS. But God's "mercies never end" (Lamentations 3:22) and His "grace is sufficient" (2 Corinthians 12:9).

May the posts and pages on this site offer you a measure of peace and encouragement.
