Discover the Beauty of the Season, Even When It’s Hard #AdventReflections (#Giveaway)

The holidays can hold great joy but also deep sorrow. What or who is missing from our lives becomes hyper clear at this time of year. Focusing on the not here makes it difficult to be joyful at a time when we should

There is a Reason to Be Grateful

No matter how bad things get, there is a reason to be grateful. Recently my daughter began communicating, “Thank you, Lord,” with a combination of sign language and vocalizations. She says it often throughout a given day. However, she won’t say it

When You Want Thanksgiving to Replace Your Grumbling

“Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!” 1 Chronicles 16:34 ESV “This is so dumb! Nothing ever goes right!”   I say it, and then I duck my head, ashamed as

Experience the Fullness of God

“Mom did much of the leg work for me. She really did a lot.” Tears sprang to his mama’s eyes as this 6-ft-something 17 year old praised her efforts on his behalf. He didn’t directly thank her. He didn’t have

It’s a Heart Matter (Hoarder or Not)

I’m not a hoarder. At least that’s what I tell myself. Hoarding has such a negative context. Certainly I’m not that!  But I do love to hold onto mementos. The kids artwork and report cards. Their music programs and athletic rosters.

The Value of This Moment (don’t miss it!)

Whatever it looks like, the moment I’m in has value. When will I remember that? Up to my elbows in suds, I silently huffed about  the lack of help I had around the house during this season. With the older two away

The Key to Experiencing Increased Joy

It’s sad how when something is “bad,” it’s bad enough, but when something is “good,” it’s never good enough. Why can’t we accept the gifts as the sweet blessings they are?  Negative Mindset “Enjoy the beautiful sunshine,”the clerk encouraged. “I will,”

How to Reclaim Your Day When the Unexpected Happens

Dropping to my knees, I struggled to regain composure. A Monday morning, particularly this Monday morning, should not start this way. The night before I had just returned from a four-day convention. I needed today to go as planned. But

I Want to Complain! How Acknowledging God’s Touch Can Help

The unthankful heart … discovers no mercies; but let the thankful heart sweep through the day and, as the magnet finds the iron, so it will find, in every hour, some heavenly blessings. —Henry Ward Beecher I don’t know about

Thanks for stopping!

Hello, I'm Julie, an imperfect wife and mother of four. Life in this broken world is not always easy. Yet, joy can be found in each day through the grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I find it's easy for our day's BLESSINGS to get lost in its HAPPENINGS. But God's "mercies never end" (Lamentations 3:22) and His "grace is sufficient" (2 Corinthians 12:9).

May the posts and pages on this site offer you a measure of peace and encouragement.
