Receive Your Beautiful Inheritance – a Free Gift

“Indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance” (Psalm 16:6b). Not long ago, I passed a lady walking on the side of the road. Slim and toned, she seemed so put together.  I didn’t know her, but my mind began to taunt

When You Beg God To Change Your Circumstances and He Doesn’t, Remember This

If we could only remember who’s in charge … and trust.  How often we besiege God about something we desperately want! We beg Him to change our circumstances. We implore Him to bring something to fruition.  Sometimes, however, God says no

What To Tell Yourself When You Wonder If You Are Enough

“We are all born originals—why is it so many of us die copies?” -Edward Young My early morning jog began as usual: cellphone on, earbuds in, audio version of Bible Gateway playing. Then I met her at the top of the

A Surprising Suggestion for When You Are Unable To Move Forward in an Area

Sometimes to move forward you must step back, occasionally even step aside.  Paralyzed You may have noticed I’ve been rather quiet on this blog for a while now. It’s not that I don’t want to encourage you.  In fact it

Hope for When You’re in a Hard Place

Many of the hardest things in life prove to be the most valuable. It’s Hard! I once thought parenting would be easy. It’s not. Lately I’ve been thinking about how truly inadequate I feel for this job, even after nearly 23

The Constant to Cling To When Facing Seasons of Change

It can be difficult to move on in the midst of life changes, but God’s a constant we can all count on.  In Iowa we have a saying about the weather: If you don’t like it, just wait a minute, it’ll change.

What Faith in God Brings To My Life (and can bring to yours)

In the hard parts of my days, I often find myself saying, “I don’t know how people do it without faith in God.”  But what do I really mean by that? What does faith in a living, breathing, almighty Creator who

The Thing To Do When You Feel Lost at Sea While Still on Land

I wonder how many others feel the way I do. Adrift. Like I’m walking in a fog. A bit uncertain of the direction I am to go. I’m tempted to give into doing what I’ve been doing. Running on the crazy

Sometimes Pressing Pause Is Necessary

I’m hitting the pause button.  I hope you had a joy-filled, Christ-focused Christmas: one of awe and wonder as you reflected on the immensity of God becoming a human baby. All so you and I could live with Him forever!

Dance Before the Lord (a Christian’s distinct honor)

We act like fools for our sports teams, our favorite political candidates, and even our children’s activities. Yet when it comes to rejoicing in our God we play it safe. Where we wildly celebrate a World Series win, we become anemic in our

Thanks for stopping!

Hello, I'm Julie, an imperfect wife and mother of four. Life in this broken world is not always easy. Yet, joy can be found in each day through the grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I find it's easy for our day's BLESSINGS to get lost in its HAPPENINGS. But God's "mercies never end" (Lamentations 3:22) and His "grace is sufficient" (2 Corinthians 12:9).

May the posts and pages on this site offer you a measure of peace and encouragement.

“We shall draw nearer to God not by trying to avoid the sufferings inherent in our lives, but by accepting them and offering them to Him; throwing away all defensive armor. If our hearts need to be broken, and if He chooses this as the way in which they should break, so be it.”
