The Thing To Do When You Feel Lost at Sea While Still on Land

I wonder how many others feel the way I do. Adrift. Like I’m walking in a fog. A bit uncertain of the direction I am to go. I’m tempted to give into doing what I’ve been doing. Running on the crazy

Sometimes Pressing Pause Is Necessary

I’m hitting the pause button.  I hope you had a joy-filled, Christ-focused Christmas: one of awe and wonder as you reflected on the immensity of God becoming a human baby. All so you and I could live with Him forever!

Dance Before the Lord (a Christian’s distinct honor)

We act like fools for our sports teams, our favorite political candidates, and even our children’s activities. Yet when it comes to rejoicing in our God we play it safe. Where we wildly celebrate a World Series win, we become anemic in our

When You Want to do Great and Glorious Things (Delight God)

Can I be honest with you? I have a history of feeling I’ve not done enough or not done something well enough. In response, I strive to do more. In fact, if I’m not proactive, my daily to-do list becomes miles

Why We Need To Get Rid of the Junk (in our hearts as well as our homes)

Letting junk accumulate in our hearts keeps us from living in the freedom Christ has secured.  Rummaging through my clothes pile, I frantically searched for the mate to the shoes I wanted to wear. It had disappeared into the black

When Our Dreams Seem Too Big (live fully)

Sometimes the dreams God’s laid on our hearts seem too big to ever be possible. It’s then we know we’re walking by sight, not faith. I’ve learned much from raising a child who has significant disabilities. One lesson that stands out is don’t

One Thing You Can Always Do When You Have No Time

If you’re anything like me, something always tries to take the place of the most important things in my day. My workout routine includes a half hour walk/jog five mornings a week. Four out of those five days my to-do

When Serving Is a Chore Instead of a Delight

How often do I agree to do something for someone and then walk away muttering about it? How often do you?  Our exchange wasn’t that different from the many my husband and I have each day. Yet for some reason,

The Only Sure Place to Anchor Your Heart

Too many of us tether our heart to the wrong thing.  Unhealthy Attachments I’ve always been deeply attached to the farm I grew up on in northeast Iowa. I loved the peaceful countryside checkered with timber, cropland, and pastures. I love the memories

Thanks for stopping!

Hello, I'm Julie, an imperfect wife and mother of four. Life in this broken world is not always easy. Yet, joy can be found in each day through the grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I find it's easy for our day's BLESSINGS to get lost in its HAPPENINGS. But God's "mercies never end" (Lamentations 3:22) and His "grace is sufficient" (2 Corinthians 12:9).

May the posts and pages on this site offer you a measure of peace and encouragement.
