Hope for When You’re in a Hard Place

Many of the hardest things in life prove to be the most valuable. It’s Hard! I once thought parenting would be easy. It’s not. Lately I’ve been thinking about how truly inadequate I feel for this job, even after nearly 23

When Our Dreams Seem Too Big (live fully)

Sometimes the dreams God’s laid on our hearts seem too big to ever be possible. It’s then we know we’re walking by sight, not faith. I’ve learned much from raising a child who has significant disabilities. One lesson that stands out is don’t

Sometimes We Need to See Differently (like these high school students did)

Sometimes appreciation only comes when we choose to see differently. Although my daughter is 18 years old, she speaks with the aid of an iPad. Rachel cannot tie her own shoes or completely dress herself. She has been diagnosed with significant intellectual

You Are Seen and You Are Needed (pass it on)

Although she assured me she liked it in the home in which she now resided, I could see it. I saw it in the way tears welled up as we visited. I saw it in her far away look as

The Sign You’re Looking for Is Closer Than You Think

Have you ever missed a sign, and it’s left you confused, frustrated, and lost? I have. It happens, for instance, when I navigate for a particular son on road trips on a route he isn’t entirely familiar with. I forget he doesn’t know

The Value of This Moment (don’t miss it!)

Whatever it looks like, the moment I’m in has value. When will I remember that? Up to my elbows in suds, I silently huffed about  the lack of help I had around the house during this season. With the older two away

When Life Becomes Too Ordinary (where to find miracles)

For most of us, our lives appear so commonplace, that we rarely (if ever) expect miracles. Because miracles, well, they’re just too big. And for most of us, our lives are just too ordinary. Certainly no miracles are happening here.

What You Need to Know About Expectations in Order to Live Joyfully

Expectations can be a thief, robbing us of the joy of the moment. I expected to be working in the natural biology field until old age set in. I expected to have a pretty easy life: filled with hard work,

5 Steps Toward Praising God #31DaysofPraise

“You alone are the Lord. You created the heavens, the highest heavens with all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to all of them, and

Where are you called to share God’s love?

“In the Kingdom of God, service is not a stepping-stone to nobility: it is nobility, the only kind of nobility that is recognized.” ~ T.W. Manson One boy went one direction; his brother went another. One chattered animatedly about dinosaurs; the

Everyday Praise

We were created for praise! Cultivate the practice of glorifying God daily. Let your heart find rest in the shelter of God's goodness.

Thanks for stopping!

Hello, I'm Julie, an imperfect wife and mother of four. Life in this broken world is not always easy. Yet, joy can be found in each day through the grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I find it's easy for our day's BLESSINGS to get lost in its HAPPENINGS. But God's "mercies never end" (Lamentations 3:22) and His "grace is sufficient" (2 Corinthians 12:9).

May the posts and pages on this site offer you a measure of peace and encouragement.
