There Is Still Every Reason To Be Thankful

We ran in the cool evening air. Sliding grass-stained we pushed, pulled and laughed. I wrestled the football away from one son and tossed it to the next, giving a victory hoot while they looked on in mock surprise.

Then again, a sun-smiling afternoon and a sweet girl. Gripping the racket awkward, she swung, missed and giggled wildly.

Sounds of joyful living filled the air. Rach badminton

Owls hooting in the waning sunlight.  Soft grass. Growing children. A grateful mama.

These is the face of all things good and right with the world. Playing, running, laughing, loving.

Isn’t this how it should be? Forget the anger and the hatred. Lay down the weapons. Use those hands to wipe tears, hold hands and throw balls.

I wish this, but it will never be so across all the land. A broken people = a broken world. And we are so broken. spent flower

But we can live our peace and thanks here and now. Let laughter ring loudly over the hills. Appreciate the big things but cherish the little.

For it’s those little droplets of grace that remind us of the good. The goodness still found in our earthly home. The goodness of life. The goodness of our Creator.

There Is Still Goodness

In the midst of the broken sadness of a hurting world, let the little droplets of grace remind us of the goodness still found here …. the goodness of life … the goodness of our Creator.

Painted skies and droplets shimmering  in the morning light. Rustling leaves and rolling hills. Colorful flowers and soft grasses. Rippling laughter and butterfly kisses. Jittery squirrels and graceful deer.

So many things point to a beauty unsurpassed. They give a nod to our inheritance: an unimaginable oasis of peace, light, and love.

The beauty found in this world highlights every reason to be thankful—this week and for eternity.

“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe” (Hebrews 12:28)

Reflections: Care to share some of the things you are thankful for?
