May the Jesus in Me Be Ever Present to the Outside World

She glowed radiant, standing on that stage.

A gifted speaker, her presentation captivated the audience. But what captured me more was her presence.

This dear lady’s beauty literally radiated from within, readily apparent even from the back of the room. Hers was not a knockdown gorgeous physicality, but something much deeper and much more lasting.

For she wore the beauty of Jesus Christ.

She spoke with power, His power.

She spoke with grace, His grace.

She spoke truth, His truth.

She spoke love, His love.

And she literally glowed with Love.

Clothed With Christ

The Lord bids us clothe ourselves with Jesus Christ: “Put Him on” (Romans 13:14).

Draw near to Him. Walk in His presence.

“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” James 4:8

So near in fact that we will begin to radiate Jesus Christ. Moses did.

At the time of God’s gifting of the The Ten Commandments, His Word tells us that whenever Moses would come from speaking with the Lord, his face would be radiant, his skin shining (Exodus 34:35).

God’s nearness radiated from Moses. He glowed with the glory of God!

Glowing With the Lord

The speaker that evening, she too was aglow with His glory. Her face reflected the nearness she walked with the Lord.

Although we aren’t to flaunt our spirituality, our lives — our actions and, yes, our countenance — should be a reflection of being clothed with Christ.

“I have been crucified with Christ 20 and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” Galatians 2:19-20

Our relationship with God should be obvious from the way we carry ourselves, because Christ lives in us.

When we walk in our own strength, our countenance will be sullen and dull. But let the Lord lead and direct, let Him take over, and you’ll need to veil His glory for its brilliance!

Walk in His Spirit and be aglow with His glory!

Whether we’re on a speakers platform or a chauffeur mom, may the Jesus Christ in me and you be ever present to the outside world.

May the love of the Lord pour out from us to a hurting people.

May our actions breathe grace and mercy.

May your face, dear one, shine with Jesus.  May mine.

“… his face shone as a result of his speaking with the LORD.” Exodus 34:29

Reflections: How would you describe someone who walks intimately with the Lord? What stands out about them? What is different in the way they carry themselves, the way they present?

I’m thrilled to link up with Suzie Eller for #livefreeThursday and this week’s prompt, “the Jesus you see in me” as well as Bonnie Gray from Faith Barista and Holley Gerth’s Coffee for your Heart. I love these special linkups. They provide an abundance of great inspiration and encouragement all in one place. Click on the image below to check them out.

This topic is close to my heart, Julie! We live in a world that can’t see Jesus because many who claim to know Him don’t invest time filling up with Him and getting to know Him. What a world we’d have if we all reflected Him from the inside out!

  4. Cecelia Lester (Quiet Spirit) says:

As new Christians, we have to learn this message that we can show Jesus and his love on our faces and in our actions as we meet and minister to people. We have to live for Him, as well as work for Him.
