Why You Too Should Consider Getting Noticed

I never really wanted to stand out in a crowd. To this day, I live in dread of attending a live show and being signaled out (You know, like comedians will do at their shows). I still prefer to work hard, complete my tasks, and then slink away satisfied with obscurity.

However, as I grow older, and wiser (I hope), I’m realizing how important it is to be willing to be noticed. Not in a “look at how great I am” way, but instead in a ” look at how great my God is” one.

When my son Daniel encouraged me to start a blog, I thought he was crazy. My fear was real. I feared failure, and I feared success. I feared stumbling as I stepped out from the crowd and having everyone laugh. I feared (and continue to) looking “self-promotional.” 

A Reason To Stop Hiding

Yet to glorify the Lord, we need to stop hiding in the crowd. [←Tweet this.]

We need to be noticed so we can point others to the One who is worth noticing.

I since discovered I didn’t need to leave the crowd behind, but I did need to be bold in the crowd. 

Noticeable Faith

As the crowds pressed in on Jesus, He “at once” felt power leave Him. “Who touched [me]?” He demanded. A trembling woman, long afflicted with a bleeding problem, fearfully spoke up. “I did” I imagine her whispering. “I’m so sorry. I knew if I just touched You I’d be healed.” (Mark 5:24-30)

I am drawn to the story of this lady. She is one in the crowd, yet stands out from the crowd. She risked being chastised and ridiculed to be healed and filled. Just a touch–brave enough to let her faith be noticed. 

“’Daughter,’ He said to her, ‘your faith has made you well.'” (Mark 5:34)

Our faith should be noticeable. Evidence of our faith should spotlight the Great Physician. [←Tweet this.]

Am I bold enough to be noticed, not only to receive His gifts, but also so I can glorify the One who always notices me? 

“[The woman] said, ‘If I can just touch His robes, I’ll be made well!'” (Mark 5:28). And through my testimony, others will hear and see and find healing as well. 

Whatever crowd you might find yourself in, be so bold as to reach out for the Lord, even if it’s just with a trembling finger. Touch Him, receive His gifts,…

and allow evidence of your faith to sing His glories. 

“In the same way, let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)
