With God’s Love You Always End on the Right Petal #31DaysofPraise

Gold Brush Stroke

Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals and other instruments, the singers raised their voices in praise to the Lord and sang: “He is good; his love endures forever.”
2 Chronicles 5:13

Chasing Love

Us women, we run ourselves ragged chasing love. And it begins early.

As little girls with crushes on our daddy. As teens wondering if this first date is the date. As mature women questioning our worthiness to be loved.

We’re constantly searching, questioning, desiring.

As we mature, plucking flower petals and chanting, “He loves me, He loves me not,” no longer seems good enough. We long for more concrete evidence.

And with longing comes striving to prove ourselves worthy. To earn love. To make it happen.

Even in a family where we know we’re cared for and wanted, our feelings can sabotage the truth. We don’t always feel loved!

Add to that the fact that no human being apart from the incarnate Lord has ever been or ever will be able to love perfectly, and we have a recipe for uncertainty and doubt.

Be assured you are not alone in your doubting and striving to be loved. It is an age-old pursuit.

But hear me when I say we can never do enough to earn it, and we don’t have to! God offers it freely.

If Not For Love, Why?

He loves me; He loves me

We all pluck those petals and recite the love-me/love-me-not chant at different times in our lives.

But no matter if you had a daddy who adored you or not, no matter if your first date turned into the “till death do us part” vow, no matter if you feel loved today or not, you ARE loved!

Why else would the Father send His Son to earth?

Why else would He put up with our continual rejection of Him?

Why else would He be infinitely patient to give us every chance to repent and turn to Him?

Why else would Jesus willingly endure every manner of insult and assault; be persecuted, ridiculed, and tortured; and then allow Himself to be nailed to a cross and completely cut off from His Father?

If not for love, why?

So go ahead, pluck those little petals if you must. But no matter what phrase you end on, know for certain God loves you!

Because God is love. It is part and parcel of His character. He can do no less than love us.

And being immutable (unchangeable), God’s love for you will never change. It will endure forever!

He Loves Me; He Loves Me

You are loved with an undying, forever-stretching, infinitely big love.

So you can change that chant from “Love me, love me not” to “Love me, love me!”

And even more sweetness is that we have the capacity to love because God led the way! So turn around and hand someone that everlasting petal today. Pour out God’s love on another.

O praise His Holy and good name!

Reflections: How might your life change if whenever you feel unloved, you think of God’s sacrifice of His Son for you, grab a real or imaginary flower, and whisper “He loves me, He loves me” as you pluck away? The chant will always end exactly where it should.

Hello, I'm Julie, an imperfect wife and mother of four. Life in this broken world is not always easy. Yet, joy can be found in each day through the grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I find it's easy for our day's blessings to get lost in its happenings. But God's "mercies never end" (Lamentations 3:22) and His "grace is sufficient" (2 Corinthians 12:9).

May the posts and pages on this site offer you a measure of peace and encouragement.
