Thankful Thoughts on a Stormy Day
On a stormy day it’s good to focus on thankful thoughts. Here are more I am adding to my One Thousand (or more) Gifts.
- Good health screening results for my sister.
- Ripe concord grapes.
- My amazing quote book (Forty Thousand Sublime and Beautiful Thoughts compiled by Charles Noel Douglas).
- A white butterfly dancing on the breeze.
- Warmth—gotta love summer!
- Completing a magazine submission.
- Shimmering wild grape jelly and syrup and elderberry jelly—tastes awesome too!
- Uplifting music.
- Rachel using her communication device in front of her entire class (pressing three buttons!)—Wow, as indicated in the last post, this is a biggie; we’ve been working on it for years!
- Successful surgery for my nephew.
- Safe travel home from South Dakota for my Mom, Dad, and Josh (nephew).
- Playing a mean game of “monkey-in-the-middle.”
- Crisp, calm morning after a thunderous night (must have been a long night for tent campers!)
- Dry house out of the storm.
- Ability to take walks.
- Watching white-breasted nuthatches (one of my favorite birds) find food.
- The affection of pets.
- Orange juice in the morning (my equivalent of the coffee kick).
- Warm peanut butter chip chocolate cookies—Daniel’s request.
- Cutting hair—really! Although not my favorite thing to do, it is a great time to chat with my children and my husband.

Reflections: What are you most grateful for? Have you noticed a connection between being thankful and living a joyful life?
